Sam Tower is a director, choreographer, producer, and arts facilitator. She has been creating original works of theatre and dance in Philadelphia since 2010. With her company, Ninth Planet, she directs and produces collaboratively-generated feminist physical theatre in unconventional performance spaces. Utilizing ensemble-devised material, she collaborates with resident playwright, Jeremy Gable, on original stories and scripts that challenge patriarchal conventions. Recent work includes Strange Tenants (Fringe 2017), Particular Risk (Bryn Mawr College), Nowhere Fast (BRAT co-pro at FringeArts), I’d rather choke than be a quitter (Plant Me Here co-pro), and 901 Nowhere Street (Fringe 2015.) She is proud to have worked as a company member and assistant director for New Paradise Laboratories from 2012-2015. She is an Associated Artist with Applied Mechanics, and the Showcase Coordinator for International Performing Arts for Youth. 2017 Independence Foundation Fellowship Recipient.
