Sam Tower is a director, choreographer, producer, and arts facilitator. She has been creating original works of theatre and dance in Philadelphia since 2010. With her company, Sam Tower + Ensemble (ST+E), she directs and produces collaboratively-generated feminist physical theatre in unconventional performance spaces. Utilizing ensemble-devised material, she collaborates with ST+E Resident Playwright, Jeremy Gable, on original stories and scripts that challenge patriarchal conventions. Recent work includes Strange Tenants (Fringe 2017), Particular Risk (Bryn Mawr College), Nowhere Fast (BRAT co-pro at FringeArts), I’d rather choke than be a quitter (Plant Me Here co-pro), and 901 Nowhere Street (Fringe 2015.) She is proud to have worked as a company member and assistant director for New Paradise Laboratories from 2012-2015. She is an Associated Artist with Applied Mechanics, and the Showcase Coordinator for International Performing Arts for Youth. 2017 Independence Foundation Fellowship Recipient.
