The Big Reveal

The Big Reveal (2008) In 2008 Headlong invited Tere O’Connor into the studio to observe their collaborative process, refined over the previous 16 years. O’Connor asked, what happens if you unbraid Headlong? Each of the three Co-Directors then worked alone in the studio with the same six dancers, without a shared starting point for making work. They kept their rehearsals hidden from one another until April 4, 2009, when the Live Arts Festival hosted a special, public “revealing” of one another’s material. Nick Stuccio then moderated a discussion between Tere, Amy, Andrew, and David, examining how O’Connor’s choreographic principles shook everything up in Headlong. This 2-year process culminated in the full-length piece More in 2010. The first year of the process was examined and documented closely here.
